When your caged bird “fluffs-up” it is often trying to tell you it’s cold and feeling the effects of air conditioning or drafts. Owners, breeders and veterinarians have traditionally turned to heat lamps to provide needed warmth for their birds. The problem with heat lamps is nobody really knows how long to leave them on or how close to put them to the bird.
Since birds transfer much of their body heat through their feet, K&H Mfg developed the Thermo-Perch, a perch that radiates warmth through the bird’s feet. Not meant to be the only perch in the cage, owners, breeders and veterinarians who use the Thermo-Perch can leave it on year around, 24 hours a day
The Thermo-Perch gives caged birds the option of using it only when they feel the need for warmth. It is thermostatically controlled to an optimum body temperature varying between 102º-107ºF along its length. This allows the bird to pick the spot that provides the warmth it needs. This consistent source of warmth stabilizes the bird’s environment and contributes to the bird’s overall health and helps reduce avian stress. Its irregular shape reduces foot cramps and pressure sores providing orthopedic benefits as well.
The perch is made of scratch and bite resistant non-toxic plastic and easily attaches to wire cages. It utilizes harmless, 12-volt low voltage electricity to heat the perch and the steel wire wrapped cord is safely positioned away from the cage. One year limited warranty. Patent Pending
